If you haven't noticed already, this is the first blog of year 2009. Now why is that? There are thousands of reasons why but mostly procrastination which leads to postponement which leads to lost of inspiration which then leads to absence of words.
I've got an email from a good friend of mine who I have not heard from in many months. 7 months to be exact. "Why did you quit writing?", he wrote. That's when I took the liberty to log into my blogger account and started typing.... still typing. So here's a dedication post for you.
See, Nobu Kaneyama aka Nobita was my flatmate. I met him through a friend. He was looking for a place to stay and hey, I had a spare room. In the beginning I was worried about "the new flatmate". Is he weird? Is he difficult to deal with? and worse, what if he is a psycho! I had some momentary doubts due to past experience with flatmates. I was wrong to have those doubts. Nobbi is outgoing and kind especially towards my Garfield-wanabe cat. Perhaps too kind sometimes. Being a typical Japanese, he is always polite and smiled at everyone he met.
So you see Nobbi, how can I forget you. I still remember the wonderful smell of miso and the many flavour fragrance from your rice. And I certainly miss our daily latte and flat white sessions where you taught me Japanese and I shared with you, my not-so-awesome English. Truth is, all the Japanese words I've learned are out the window.
Well, Justin really really really wants to go to Japan one day. It's his second dream place to go. Old Trafford is his first. I'm sure we can visit Osaka one day. You could always come back to NZ for a holiday. =)
I'll leave you with some recent photos we took. I'd like to share your photos with others too. Congratulations on your new job.
Maybe, just maybe, I can find back the writing inspiration that I've lost.
