I realized I've never really introduce or talk about Taupo, where I'm currently residing. Taupo, a tourist town, is located at the outlet of Lake Taupo (said to be the size of Singapore), where it discharges water into the Waikato River. The river has a series of nine hydroelectric power stations that generate 13% of New Zealand's total electrical generating capacity. Mighty River Power, the company I'm working for owns the nine power stations and several other Geothermal plants around Taupo area.
Taupo town has a population of only 22,000. Since I've lived here, I've met some Indonesians, Filipinos, Chinese, Indians but none from my own home. =( Taupo is a center of volcanic and geothermal activity and hot springs suitable for bathing are located at several places in the vicinity. If you love mountain biking, water activities, even air activities, this is the perfect destination. I'm not into any of those, hence settling down here is not an option.
I'm hoping to move to Hamilton city in a few months time, if boss gives me the green light. Friends always say, "OMG! You're living in Taupo? You must be dying from boredom!" I guess I got used to it. My daily routine starts with work from 7:30am to 4:00pm. Afterwards, I would go to the gym if I can't find any reason not to do so. Later on, I'll go home and become the couch potato throughout the rest of the night. Weekend is the best as I get to see my BBoy. At times we would travel to Rotorua, Auckland or Hamilton if we are up for it.
Bboy always come back after his work on Friday. As usual I'll prepare dinner and wait for his arrival. It takes him 3+ hours drive from New Plymouth to Taupo. Friday night, we had a poker game with my colleagues and dine-out on Sat night. Here are some photos of food we had this weekend. =) Next weekend.... New Plymouth!
